David A. Vine “All Hazards Communications Preparedness” Audio player below.
You might ask yourself, “What does navigation have to do with All Hazards Communications Preparedness?” That would be a reasonable question if you are not familiar with search and rescue and disaster communications. Land navigation is integral to mapping before, during and after large-scale emergencies and disasters.
Our guest is Matt, the “Prepper Coach” and he is a land navigation expert with extensive experience in search and rescue, emergency medical experience and a variety of other skills. His website is http://www.preppercoach.com

Matt is the President of the Lower Adirondack Search and Rescue (LASAR) team based in Warrensburg, NY. LASAR is a wilderness search and rescue team located in the Adirondack Region of New York State. LASAR is a member of the New York State Federation of Search and Rescue. The Federation provides numerous training opportunities, information, expertise and projects of mutual interest to member teams.
Matt presented a seminar about “Getting Home After a Large Scale Event” and “Map and Compass Basics” at Prepper Camp during the Sept. 28-30, 2018. The event was held at a campground near Saluda, NC. I met Matt and attended his map and compass class at Prepper Camp. He agreed to be on our October 16 show to talk about the various techniques of land navigation and its application in search and rescue missions.
During the live show Matt and I will discuss how land navigation applies to wilderness search and how all of that activity relates to radio communications.
