This episode is going to be the first in a series of shows on various aspects of creating and increasing health. Because losing weight is such a popular “New Year’s Resolution”, we’re going to kick off this serious with a discussion on obesity. We will cover the benefits of losing the weight, some of the newer science behind the causes and remedies of obesity, and physical fitness approaches that take you from completely sedentary to active.

Resolution Red HibiscusIt really doesn’t matter how much ammo or food storage you have stockpiled. It won’t matter how secure your bunker is, or if you have multiple caches of gold and silver coins. If you get winded just walking from the couch to the refrigerator, you’re not going to be able to keep up pace during an extended emergency.

Resolution ginger-rootWhen is comes to Medical Preparedness, it is easy to focus on stocking up on bandages and antibiotics. Most of the time, I talk about herbs that are useful in dire circumstances or when someone is sick. But that’s only one half of (Herbal) Medical Preparedness. The other half is about preventing illness by cultivating health. This is done through eating clean and nourishing foods, exercising, getting good rest, staying hydrated, and yes, using herbs.

Resolution ginger-rootThis isn’t about being a hard body or becoming a competitive athlete. It is, however, about assessing where you are healthwise, setting some goals, and implementing a strategy to help you get there. With 1 in every 2 adults in the US facing a chronic illness, including obesity, diabetes, arthritis, heart disease, etc., most of which can be improved through a change in behaviors, diet, and herbal allies.

Herbal Prepper Live150Health and physical fitness can be a real hot button issue for a lot of people. It is human nature to avoid uncomfortable topics. The reality check is that if you are overweight and prediabetic, have chronic pain from fibromyalgia or an arthritic joint, or you have ulcerative colitis, when push comes to shove, you’re probably going to lose in the game of “Survival of the Fittest”.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure, so let’s start 2015 off right. Make creating health one of your top prepping goals!
