Essential Oils KISS First Aid Kit
Host: Cat Ellis “Herbal Prepper Live”
Want to know how to include essential oils in your first aid kit? Tune into this episode of Herbal Prepper Live to learn what oils you’ll need, how to use them, and how to store them. The essential oils discussed in this show make an effective and affordable addittion to the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) Herbal First Aid kit that we’ve been discussing in the past two episodes.
What are essential oils? Essential oils are the delicate and volatile essences that have been steam distilled from
the plant. They are not true lipids, and therefore not stable and vulnerable to evaporation. EOs are the most concentrated and potent form of plant medicine available, and can easily be added to enhance herbal formulas such as infused oils, salves, and steams.
Essential oils (EOs) have become increasingly popular in the preparedness community. This isn’t surprising, as EOs have a lot to offer. Much like herbs, they are effective, easy to use with minimal training, and they are available to purchase by everyone with no special training or licensing required. EOs are known to help ease away aches and pains from sore muscles and joints, migraines, nausea, inflammation, anxiety, and depression. They are often used as decongestants and almost all offer some type of antibacterial, antiviral, and/or antifungal properties.
So, is “more concentrated” and “more potent” always better? What drawbacks and limitations do essential oils have? Are there circumstances where essential oils are contraindicated? Are they safe for pregnant women, children, and infants? Are there any uses or precautions around pets? And what about all these “sounds too good to be true”, near miraculous claims of healing through essential oils made by certain essential oil companies? What about the claims of essential oil use in the bible? How much is true, and how much is just pure marketing malarkey?
In this episode, you’ll get solid information on essential oils for first aid, plus the truth about essential oil safety and quality from a practicing Herbalist/Aromatherapist. Be sure to tune in live on Sunday, at 7pm EST for what is sure to be an informative and volatile episode of Herbal Prepper Live.
