Finding direction with your watch

Have you ever been in the outdoors with no compass and wondered which way is north, south? You can use your watch. Hold your watch in front of you facing the sun. Rotate your watch so that the hour hand is pointing in the direction of the sun. Halfway between the hour hand and 12 will be your north-south line. For instance: If it is 10:00 point the hour hand “ten” towards the sun. Halfway between 10:00 and 12:00 is 11:00. 11:00 is your north south direction.

Digital watch? If the hour is 10:00 on your watch draw a clock face on the ground with the hour hand pointing to 10:00 in line with the sun. Halfway between this point and 12:00 on your clock you drew is your north south direction.

This can vary depending on time of year etc. but will give you general direction.
