Spiritual Preparedness The Hard Questions!

Spiritual Preparedness The Hard Questions!
Host: Lynna “The Other Side… A Preppers Path

SpiritualSpirituality and the prepper, does it really have anything to do with preparation? What’s that old saying there are two things you never discuss, politics and religion! To be honest it’s not the intent of Sunday’s Other Side of a Preppers Path to do either, but what’s that? Didn’t you just say spirituality, isn’t that religion? Therein lays the rub, often when the term spirituality is used people immediately think religion.

The term religion is defined thus “Religion is an organized collection of beliefs, cultural systems, and world views that relate humanity to an order of existence” (Source Wikipedia) According to some estimates, there are roughly 4,200 religions in the world. That’s a whole lot of people and a whole lot of beliefs. Read more “Spiritual Preparedness The Hard Questions!”

Host: Lynna “The Other Side A Preppers Path

CartThe cart is fully loaded the horse is ready to go, but we can’t turn a wheel or budge the load and the dang horse keeps rearing up… what the heck???? Pretty silly you say, move the horse to the front hook ‘em up and get a move on. Sounds simple enough BUT in our exuberance to get on our way our steps get confused and mixed up, costing us time, money and patience as well as anxiety!

1-5 planGetting the cart before the horse is usually costly whatever we are doing when we get it backwards, but in getting prepared it can make all the difference in being ready and not! Surviving or Not! As we travel down our road to preparedness this month with our Stocking Up Series this Sunday we’ll take a look at getting the cart before the horse and how we can make sure we don’t take that detour. At My Fathers Knee, Holidays Then and Now

At My Fathers Knee – Holidays Then and Now
Host: Lynna “The Other side… A Preppers Path”

FathersThe frost is on the pumpkins, within the week Americans across the country pause to give thanks and in many homes share a family dinner. As the old song says ‘Across the river and through the woods to grandmother’s house we go…. ‘ We won’t exactly be heading to Grandmothers house , however The Other Side will be taking a trek back into the days of yester year as Lynna launches a new show segment to be featured each month aptly named “At my Fathers Knee.”

Living a prepared life and learning to do so has opened the eyes and minds of many to the way things were, prior to the industrial revolution spreading across the land, changing the way we do most everything. The advent of the steam engine and electricity opened the flood gates of technology and with it a host of contraptions to easy the burdens of mankind engulfed society. A little something we call Progress, convenience, efficiency, abundance, ease and creating more with less. Each passing decade beginning in the mid to late 1800’s has taken the masses further and further away from hand and home production to machine and factory. Winterization Part 2

Winterization Part 2
Host: Lynna “The Other Side A Preppers Path”

WinterizationNo matter where you reside North, South, East or West as the world turns so does our local climate and being prepared for these changes large or small saves time and money. Locally the first real snow of the season blanketed the landscape revealing a ghostly elegance and accentuating the timing of the paths of winterizing our cars and ourselves, learning and/or reminding ourselves of those things we can and should do to insulate ourselves from the change of seasons. Just because you may not face snow or freezing temperatures doesn’t mean you don’t need to winterize and be aware. Understanding the importance of developing knowledge and the ability to implement it is an ongoing skill. The change of season turns on the light, flips our switch, so to speak reminding us that being prepared creates a life full of peace and power. Read more “Winterization Part 2”

Built to Last “My Homestead” where I am!

Backwoods Home150x100The elderberries are ripe and the first signs of changing seasons are appearing, soon fall will be on the wind. Join Lynna on The Other Side… A Preppers Path as she brings in the first day of September with a smile and a look at Built to Last My Homestead. Often when thinking of a homestead we envision a country mural with a quaint farmhouse, smoke curling out of the chimney, a wood stack nearby, chickens roaming a green expanse with a barn and other critters milling about. A perfect picture of a sustainable self-reliant home but in reality that is just one take on a homestead.

Homestead6-8Are you yearning for that picture of a homestead, wishing away your days and nights, take heart and come realize your homestead right where you are TODAY. They say the home is where the heart is, where you are is your stead, turn your stead into your homestead today, whether you are in the rural wilds, a sprawling downtown urban apartment, a tucked away subdivision, a boat, or any other place you call home. Homesteading is about living life in a self- sufficient, reliable and sustainable method, we think it has to be out in the country somewhere and frankly that is the pinnacle of homesteading but today you can take steps to realize the homesteader in you.

The phone lines will be open and we’ll cover mind set, re-purposing, flexibility and more. Make a date for tonight 8pm central for a good ole discussion on living the prepared way on The Other Side of a Preppers Path.
