Ebola, The Virus!

Ebola,  The  Virus
Host: Sam Coffman “The Human Path

self_06I have had so many emails asking me about herbal possibilities in dealing with Ebola virus, that I am going to come out of what was meant to be a month-long hiatus (taken due to being so busy) and talk about Ebola. This is obviously uncharted territory. Is it possible to work with plant medicine to help someone beat the 60% or 90% mortality rate that different strains of this virus carry with them? That’s a very high mortality rate and means that at least 1 out of every 2 people contacting this virus will probably die. Continue reading Ebola, The Virus!

Whooping Cough and Herbal Medicine

Whooping Cough and Herbal Medicine
Host: Sam Coffman “The Human Path

Whooping CoughCalifornia has officially declared a Whooping Cough (Pertussis) epidemic. This is a very serious illness that can even cause death. At a minimum, this illness makes it extremely difficult to function normally in the manner that a post-disaster environment would require. Basic necessary chores and working, exacerbates coughing spells, and of course noise discipline is non-existent if someone has this illness.

Thousands of people have been infected with Pertussis this year already, and it is not only infants who are coming down with it. Adults and children who HAVE BEEN VACCINATED are also getting Pertussis. This brings to question of course, the effectiveness of the pertussis vaccine. Herbal Prepper Live150This week’s episode continues our series on the digestive system with a look at some viral and parasitic infections which are currently both common and generally easy to survive. However, in a post disaster scenario, could become far more serious. We will also discuss one more bacterial infection that will become a far more common, serious threat- cholera.

Digestive SystemOverwhelmingly, the norovirus is the most common “stomach bug.” An estimated 90% of all non bacterial gastroenteritis globally is caused by the norovirus, and approximately 50% in the US. It is extremely contagious and concentrated population centers, such as nursing homes, schools, prisons, and cruise ships, where the virus has a chance to spread like wildfire.

Next on the list is the rotovirus, which produces the same uncomfortable symptoms as the norovirus: vomiting, diarrhea, fever, and potential for dehydration. The rotovirus, however, is largely the result of modern agriculture spreading contaminated waste, which the spreads through contaminated food, water, soil, and lack of adequate hand washing. The rotovirus is still a killer for children in third world conditions. Continue reading The Digestive System, Part II
