Host: Cat Ellis “Herbal Prepper Live

Tune in live on June 22, 2014 at 7pm/EST (6pm/C, 5pm/M, 4pm/P) to hear The Herbal Prepper Live on PrepperBroadcasting.com discuss the medicinal properties and first-aid applications of roses.

RosesRoses are much more than a pretty flower. The petals, leaves, and hips are powerful ingredients in herbal medicine making. Roses have numerous medicinal properties, and make a great addition to your Herbal First Aid kit.

Many herbalists are accustomed to using rose in lotions and face creams, as it has a cooling effect upon the skin that diminishes redness, such as found in conditions like rosacea. It also has a firming, astringent action while also being very gentle that makes rose a favorite choice for aging skin. Continue reading Roses, Herbal First Aid

The Basics of Making Herbal Formulas

The Basics of Making Herbal Formulas

Basics DIYFireCiderWMHerbal remedies are a severely underutilized resource by preppers. Plant-based remedies provide an easy, affordable, and renewable alternative for post-collapse medicines. Herbs, mushrooms, trees, and other natural items, like honey, provide a wealth of traditional remedies that you can make and grow at home with minimal and easy-to-obtain equipment.

Basics 20140227_162514Herbs also have a sort of stealth function built into them that many preppers can appreciate. You can stock up on lots of your own, custom-tailored herbal preparations and formulas without drawing the same kind of attention and compromising questions you might garner if you tried to stock up on pharmaceuticals. And, due to the fact that the average person is largely clueless when it comes to plant identification outside of a tomato and a cucumber, your Survival Herb Garden will not draw the kind of attention as, for example, your vegetable garden. Most will think your herbs are either a pile of weeds or that your medicinal flowers are purely ornamental. Continue reading The Basics of Making Herbal Formulas

Common sense ways to prepare, knowledge and experience!

Over the centuries, taking care of yourself and your family has fallen by the wayside to almost total dependence on others for our smallest of needs.  Most people are totally unprepared for any type of emergency. Join us on our journey, to re-educate and re-gain our independence towards self-sufficiency.  Together, we can decide what is important to us in a time of need, and what we can do beforehand to help ourselves out when the time comes.

This week, on “Common Sense Prepping” Deb and guests talked about some common sense ways we can prepare now before the SHTF, including a few simple remedies to some common ailments. Deb invites new Preppers to come on the show and share what concerns them.  Deb also encourages more experienced Preppers to join in with their knowledge and experience.
