Hurricane Joaquin, before and after!

Hurricane, before and after!
James Walton “I Am Liberty”

Hurricane ivan091304-2015zAs millions brace for the possible effects of Hurricane Joaquin I thought a reasonable time to talk about hurricane preparedness. Like preparing for other natural disasters Hurricane preparedness is part of an overarching plan that doesn’t just take place during the hurricane season. A hurricane is actually what got me into this crazy world of prepping so I am always happy to discuss that as well. We were very unprepared and for most of us that’s what it takes before we turn the corner. Continue reading Hurricane Joaquin, before and after!

Host: Destiny Survival
Lighting uv_paqlite_glow_lights_for_life_400x250When the power goes out, and it’s dark, the first thing we want is light–even before food and water. It not only helps us see, but it provides us with comfort and reassurance. Of course, you want a dependable light source. My DestinySurvival Radio guest and I talked about a unique light source for when the power’s out that gives you that UV glow.Steve Nagel of 4EverLight International, Inc., and UVPaqlite.com, is this week’s guest. Way back in December of 2011 I had him on the show. If you’re curious, read about it here.

3-7-15 the_orb_mule_light_glowing_400x226Steve provided me with a couple of UV Paqlite samples then, and I bought some of the company’s little Toob Lites. I knew right away there’s a reason his company calls the UV PaqLite the amazing light. These aren’t your ordinary glow in the dark products. If you haven’t heard of UV PaqLites before, you’ll want to find out what they’re all about. If you have heard of these nifty glow in the dark items before, you’ll be interested in hearing about new innovations and new products. Either way, I think you’ll want to put some of the things Steve and I talked about in your survival kits and prepping supplies.

Urban Survival (Bugging In)

Urban Survival (Bugging In) Revisited
Sam Coffman

Urban Survival TeachingMuch of the hype around preparedness and urban survival focuses on the concept of the “bug-out” bag and its various incarnations; and why not?  It’s a much simpler concept to wrap one’s head around than all the preparation involved in setting up your home as the spot you intend to stay in a post-disaster or even post-SHTF scenario. We teach bug-out scenarios, caches, escape and evasion and much more related to bugging out at my survival school – The Human Path – and it is important to know the full range of skills and equipment and realities around every aspect of bugging out. Cooking Without Power and Gunshot Wounds!

Cooking Without Power and Gunshot Wounds
Two important topics worth review!

Cooking all-american-sun-ovenWho hasn’t been sitting in a car, windows up, on a winter day and become overheated from the sun pouring in the window. It has always amazed me how much heat is generated from reflection of the sun’s rays alone. There really ought to be a way to harness this incredible free power source to benefit us all…. Yes I know the Solar Industry was born long ago, but until recently the real potential of this resource hasn’t really been touched. Continue reading Cooking Without Power and Gunshot Wounds!
