It always pays to be prepared for an emergency situation, but sometimes being prepared for an emergency in the city can be different than being prepared for an emergency in more rural areas. Terrain is a huge factor with big cities, let alone the fact that you are in a more densely populated area. As is, knowing and preparing for even simple emergencies in the big city can keep you and your family safe Continue reading Emergency Preparedness in the Big City→
The 2017 Prepper Community
James Walton “I Am Liberty” Audio in player below!
As we head into another year it’s my duty to batter you with ideas about engaging your community. I truly believe that this is the way to liberation. I think if we can build sustainable and powerful communities across the nation we change the landscape of so many things. Disaster is just one of them. Continue reading The 2017 Prepper Community→
It seems that with each passing day we draw further from one another. I have never seen anything like this. In an effort to make sure we all get along, all think alike and all agree we have divided ourselves more than ever. The most frightening part for me is the way we single out and punish, with such ferocity, those groups or individuals that differ in opinion. In a country built upon the right to say and believe what you feel is right I don’t think this is right. Continue reading Glen Tate and Communities→
In this week’s podcast, join Sam Coffman as he talks about some of the most critical concerns in trying to work with other preppers. To start this topic off, it makes most sense to talk about all of the growth that has happened at Sam’s survival school (The Human Path) over the past year. At The Human Path, they have been working on an intentional community for a few years, and it has really taken off. Sam will discuss all of the eco-building projects, the barter experiments, the herbal clinic, the Continue reading Community and School!→
When there is as much corruption in the air that its nearly palpable I often breakdown. When we have no idea what our country will look like in 20 years or how our children will make a living it always helps me to go back to the basics. That to me means looking around at my community and realizing the possibilities within communities around the world.
Community preparedness, a great reason to make that initial contact with your neighbor. I think as a goal, a goal not just to get prepared but to better the American lifestyle we should push to meet a handful of our neighbors before the end of the year. Let’s take it even one step further. In fact, how about pushing to at least begin discussions on one major community level project before years end? This goal is one that will serve to not only create the ground work for your community but also give you a base from which to leap into 2014. Continue reading Community preparedness, knowing neighbors!→
The tides have turned! If we look back about one year ago, it was a hard time to be a prepper. Discussions of impending doom from various scenarios such as the Mayan calendar, Niburu, and a multitude of other world ending nonsense dominated the news, internet, and even the prepper community. You couldn’t use the word prepper without someone adding the word doomsday in front of it…thanks to that now famous television show.
But now we have a whole new set of issues developing. Floods in Alberta, wild fires in Quebec, throw in a few thwarted terrorist attacks, and we are now faced with the perfect opportunity to talk to our neighbors, family, friends and coworkers about being prepared. I’ll give a few dos and don’ts to consider when you decide (and you should decide) to start spreading the preparedness mindset.
After all that, I’ll talk a little bit about the Emergencies Act and look at the recent RCPM gun confiscations during the Alberta floods.
Expectations. It’s been an ugly week and I attribute many of the problems in my world to the lack of expectations put on people. Great relationships, great businesses run with help of expectations from those involved. So why don’t we expect things from our fellow Americans. I have said before I expect the Muslim religion to stand up for their belief against these twisted factions that think tearing human apart by any means is how you praise God. I expect neighbors to be such to help one another and communicate. Expectations.
The fact is when you read the articles about the “coming collapse” understand it’s already happening. One of the things you never hear in the garble of economic collapse, terrorist attack, EMP attack, super volcano, yadda yadda, is the collapse of society and morality itself. Continue reading Expectations of yourself and that of others!→
Some years ago, I spotted a bumper sticker that read “If you’re not OUTRAGED, you’re not paying ATTENTION”. It was of course a statement directed towards the mechanisms of politics. It has stuck within my mind, and I believe opened my eyes a bit wider to hidden agendas I perceive to be present within that realm.
In reading an article and following blog comments about the Connecticut shootings it became apparent that the “blame game” and “good vs. evil” are alive and well. Some say evil does not exist, just mental illness. I say if you’re going to do away with “evil” then you would have to do away with “good” as well. They represent the opposite sides of the same coin. Hot/cold, day/night, wet/dry, horizontal/vertical, thin/thick, life/death….you get my meaning. Without one the other ceases to exist. Our own individual ability to decipher the difference between the two extremes based on scripting, life experience, and perception allows each and every one of us a scale in which the gray matter falls and where we attempt “balance”. I believe that there are many physical realities or reasons on Continue reading If you’re not OUTRAGED, you’re not paying ATTENTION→
The Canadian Preppers Network has been up and running for several years now but in the beginning it was a lonely place to visit to say the least. Lack of volunteers and members to the blog and forum made for very little content and because of this, activity from users was non existent.
My son, Tom, founder of American Preppers Network assigned me the task of building this network, providing content, and information that pertained to and appealed to our neighbors in Canada. I would try but knew my help would be little. Between working the A. P. N. State blogs, the main A.P.N. forum as well as the Prepper Broadcasting Network my time for contribution was limited. I could do little more than a rare posting of an article or a bit of news.
One day, while on the A. P. N. forum I noticed a member that happened to live in Canada. His posts, comments and contribution to the forum were everything we look for and admire in a concerned citizen and a Prepper. His name, “Denob” now known as The Prepared Canadian! Could I be so lucky?
Denob aka “The Prepared Canadian” has been a Prepper for many years. His desire to be self-reliant and independent goes far beyond his personal interest. It was quite clear in his activity on the forums that he had a great desire to help others as well as himself and his family. I approached Denob with the idea of running and working the Canadian Preppers Network and in no time we had the right man for the job. It has been just a few short years now and our neighbors in Canada now have a respectable blog with great content.
Recently Denob approached me with an idea. He previously was doing a podcast on another network but due to lack of time had to give it up. Now, time being back on his side he has started doing another podcast and it airs right here on Prepper Broadcasting. Unlike before, this podcast is pre-recorded the day before airing, on Saturdays at 6:00pm/Central.
Below is the player for the original episode of The Prepared Canadian. Because of timing and scheduling we were unable to air this first broadcast. I hope that you will give a listen to our latest host and come back and join us in the chat room every Saturday for a visit with others while listening to Denob “The Prepared Canadian”.
On this show of the Homestead Honey Hour, Noreen will be taking the wheel and bringing on a heavy topic. Have you been paying attention? Our world is turning topsy turvy. From turmoil in the middle east to trouble on the home front, we are facing trying times here in America and across the world. You cannot deny that the global and domestic economy is moving like a listing ship. With unemployment at an all time high, gas prices and food prices going sky high, we are facing what could be the most drastic economic outlook in history. How are we going to deal with it?
As preppers and homesteaders, we feel like we are ready for anything. But are we? Are we mentally ready to face what we may see happening to our family friends and neighbors? Lets take an hour to chat about the current climate. Lets talk about the urgency that I know many people are feeling. Lets share how we think we will deal with things. Together we do anything, no matter how hard times may become. Sharing our skills and abilities is important. Creating our own “colony” will be important to do in the time leading up to a prospective collapse. How do we do that? I am sure I don’t have all the answers, however together I am certain we can figure it out!

Gman, db cox, and the mom all join Doug in a lively discussion on community involvement. All involved talked about the role your neighbors will and must have in an SHTF scenario. Some great ideas were passed around on how to break the ice within the community or at the very least with close neighbors on prepping as a group. At times the conversation strayed into other aspects of prepping such as gardening, chickens and even a little on different methods of self defense. All in all a well rounded and informative discussion. Relax and listen for some great tips in player below for this episode of Prepping With Goat Hollow.
