Like preparing for other natural disasters Hurricane preparedness is part of an overarching plan that doesn’t just take place during the hurricane season. A hurricane is actually what got me into this crazy world of prepping so I am always happy to discuss that as well. Hurricane season is on the horizon! Are you prepared?

Hurricane imagesFor The Prepared Canadian hurricane season is on the horizon!  Every year, Canada experiences the effects of several storms that many of us consider hurricanes.  In fact, there are many terms used to describe these storms such as tropical cyclones, tropical storms, and extra tropical storms.  This week, we will take a look at these different terms and what exactly they mean, as well as why extra tropical storms, sometimes referred to as “the remnants of” are still a danger to Canadians.

As well, we will go over the basic preps that you should always have on hand to be prepared for such storms, as well as some things you can do to be extra prepared when one is approaching.  Of course, we will also look at it from the point of view of the lack of support systems that these storms can cause.
