The Homestead Hog!

The Homestead Hog!
Host: Renée aka Michigansnowpony

It’s easier than you think to raise your own pork!

HomesteadIf you have the space and your zoning allows it, you might want to consider raising a couple of pigs. Not only will you have the most delicious hams, chops, and bacon you can imagine, you’ll also have peace of mind knowing exactly what your pigs were fed and how they were treated. While most of today’s pork is raised in unhealthy, confinement factory farms, yours will be a quality AND humanely raised meat. Plus, if you home butcher and cure, you can avoid the nitrates which predominate in commercially smoked and cured pork products today. Continue reading The Homestead Hog!

Homesteading, your answer to questions may be right here!

homestead honey 150HH2-28collageThis week’s episode of the Homestead Honey Hour will feature Renée, (or Michigansnowpony as she is known on YouTube) taking your questions on all things homestead related.    Renée and her husband Tim have been homesteading for over 20 years on their 10 acre hobby farm.   Renée will be answering questions submitted to her channel as well as taking questions from the listening audience, both in the chat room and from folks who call in.  So, if you have a question about dairy goats, chickens, meat rabbits, homestead hogs, turkeys, horses, gardening, seed starting, canning, cooking with a solar oven, gardening with raised beds, dehydrating, heating with wood, putting down a shallow well point, and anything else you’ve seen her (and her better half) do on her channel, don’t be shy, call in and ask!    Spring is just around the corner and now is the time to get answers to what you need to know before the “busy” season starts!
