Holiday Herbal Gifts Part 3 “Salts”
Cat Ellis “Herbal Prepper Live” Audio in player below!
Wrapping up this series on herbal gifts, the focus is on salts. Salts of various types make great, quick, natural, and non-toxic, handmade gifts. Best of all, they are easy.
By definition, a salt any chemical compound formed from the reaction of an acid with a base, with all or part of the hydrogen of the acid replaced by a metal or other cation. The recipes in this episode include sea salt, Himalayan pink salts, and various magnesium salts, along with herbs and essential oils.
I have several recipes to share for herbal salts as seasonings. Large batches of these can be made quickly. You get to control the quality of the salt. Pink Himalayan salt and sea salts have additional minerals that are lacking in table salt. Herbal salts make a good gift for preppers and foodies alike, plus you can store the rest in your own pantry. Great way to preserve herbs long term.
Non-edible salt gifts include salt soaks, either for just a quick foot soak or a full bath. Magnesium salts like epsom salt or magnesium flakes, can be mixed with herbs and/or essential oils for all sorts of purposes. I will share some recipes for relaxation, pain relief, and cold and flu relief.
Finally, I will share a method for how to make a totally natural foot cream with DIY magnesium oil and marshmallow root, cocoa butter. No artificial preservatives or emulsifiers in this one. You can customize it for tired feet, cold and achy feet, or use an essential oils blend purely for the pleasant aroma
I hope you have enjoyed this series on handmade herbal gifts. Also, be sure to check out both of my books, Prepper’s Natural Medicine and Prepping for a Pandemic. They make great gifts for the prepper on your list too!
