Covert Stockpiling, Adventures, and Updates

Covert Stockpiling, Adventures, and Updates

This week on the gunmetal Armory, we are going to discuss how and where to hide your gear covertly, we are going to discuss the various types of gear that you probably should be hiding and stockpiling, we’re going to update you on the things that have been going on within the gunmetal Armory for the past couple of weeks and why we’ve been absent, and we’re going to talk about the adventures that we’ve been on lately and the Gunmetal Armory.

One of the things that we have been having happened lately is all of the turmoil that has been happening in our life lately. Our son was recently injured and we have been dealing with the fallout from that for the past couple of weeks with doctors and such. All of that upheaval has really made things difficult for us here in the GunMetal Armory. I cant really go too deep into the details of what happened at the moment but I can say that my son was hurt bad enough that it required immediate emergency surgery. So that was a rough time in our family and the recent happenings.

On the other side, we have some really good news in the Armory. I recently went through and got some NRA certifications to add to my list of qualifications. I will tell you all alot more during the actual podcast itself. But ultimately I have alot of ideas on how to shoot better, and even how to carry ourselves with a better, more honorable mindset. I had all these ideas and plans but no base the launch my stuff from, well, now I do.

And Thursday night we are also going to discuss hiding your gear and even hiding your preps. Hiding your preps can encompass numerous things like keeping bad people from gwtting them, and even keeping your family from knowing exactly what all you have until they need to. Its all about “Op sec” or “Operational Security”. Keeping your preps secret and secure isn’t easy but it is possible so we’ll talk about that.

Another thing we did was traveling. The Mistress of Metal, my son “Kid Steel”, and myself all flew out to the great big state of Texas. We were originally going out there to visit with our in-laws and look around at the scenery that was surrounding each of us daily. We got to travel, not only to the Lone Star State (Texas of course), but we also found our way into Oklahoma for a day. We had some work to do and some business that needed doing. All in all it was a stellar trip but I’ll tell more on Air this Coming Thursday on the Prepper Broadcasting Network, at 7pm Pacific, as always, on your favorite show about firearms and gunsmithing, The Gunmetal Armory!!

Measuring Preparedness Improvements

Measuring Preparedness Improvements

What becomes of all this prepping? What of all this planning and consideration for the rainy days ahead? As we look forward to 2019 one of the most important questions to ask yourself is:

What have I improved this year?

That can be a tough question to answer in terms of preparedness. Sure, you bought some things and you probably learned some things but what gaps did you fill? How are you more prepared then you were when you started 2018?

This measured look at our preparedness undertakings in 2018 is going to be the theme all month long. We are going to explore the many aspects of measuring your base level of preparedness and building upon it. There are a whole host of things that you can do to be more prepared and to reach those prepping goals. Of course, that’s assuming you have a set of prepping goals.

As we maneuver through the coming weeks you will come to understand how to truly quantify where you stand from a preparedness standpoint. You will also be very capable of developing a set of clear and measurable goals for the year 2019.

When it comes to something as serious as disasters preparedness we have to improving or else we are just playing around. This is little more than a game. America has lived through enough natural disasters lately. Its time we start looking at prepping as an integral part of everyone’s live and not a post apocalyptic video game.

We will also be giving away copies of my latest book The Christmas Hook to anyone who is calls in to discuss their prepping failures, successes or methods of measuring such. We are more powerful as a community so get involved this month and give us your experience. Take advantage of the live show experience.

Mobile Device Apps for Radio Communications Preparedness!

Mobile Device Apps for Radio Communications Preparedness

We’ll tackle two topics during this edition of the All Hazards Communications Preparedness, The first is the annual Skywarn Recognition Day for volunteer specially trained severe weather spotters who are mostly amateur radio operators. This year it was held on Saturday, December 1 at many locations throughout the country. I attended the event at the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Columbia, South Carolina located on the Columbia Metropolitan Airport.

The second topic is an introduction to applications for radio communications. In addition to mobile device apps there are dozens of different digital modes of operation transmitted and received via computer. The entire subject is very wide scope. Consider this week’s show to be an introduction to the topic.

Skywarn Recognition Day included educational seminars and I especially enjoyed the weather radar images interpretation session. There was also an operating amateur radio station which is permanently installed at the Weather Service Forecast Office for use during weather emergencies. An Emergency Management Communications trailer was also on site. I’ll share with you what I learned during the Tuesday show live on the Prepper Broadcasting Network from 9 to 10 p.m. Eastern.

The second topic, mobile device apps, mainly for Google’s open source Android and Chrome operating systems. Most of these type of apps are written for Android devices and I have chosen several apps to discuss including the app for Echolink. EchoLink is a system which allows licensed amateur radio operators to communicate with each other via local radio repeaters all over the world.

There are several categories of apps and software for radio communications and we’ll take a look at some of those categories. The apps range from radio and electronic learning to test preparation for amateur radio licenses examinations. There are also apps that to link to radio equipment for operation using mobile devices.

K9 EDC and Tactical GearThe evolution of tactical gear, packs and equipment available to us as preppers is astounding. We can get any kind of pack we want with MOLLE adaptability, special holsters, awesome knives and military grade clothing – sometimes as easy as hitting the local ranch and home store. It’s easy to get caught up in that flashy new product or revolutionary piece of equipment. But sometimes we overlook some of the lesser-known tactical pieces of equipment available to us that could help our own faithful family members – the dogs. Sleep Deprivation!

Sleep DeprivationEveryone has heard of the term night owl. But did you know staying up at all hours can greatly affect you. Sleep deprivation is something we all at some time or another have gone through. Sleep deprivation is not having enough sleep, this can be chronic or acute. Did you know that the first 24 to 48 hrs of marine corp processing you are deprived of sleep? A tactic to weed out some of the weak recruits who would not make it much further in training. It was also one of the main reasons I myself slept with no problem once assigned to my training platoon. But that is a completely different story. Spiritual Survival

Spritual Survival with Steven Menking
James Walton “I Am Liberty” audio in player below!

In the coming weeks the world will draw closer to God, as a whole, than any other time of the year. It is a magical time for many reasons but this, above all, is what makes it so incredible. Think to yourself, you to probably get a little closer to God this time of year. Even for a person who can be cynical and pay very little attention to God and religion, its hard not to draw closer this time of the year. This week we are going to have our good friend Steven Menking on the show to speak to the topic of spiritual survival. We face lots of challenges throughout the holiday season and having the courage and will to sit down and speak with God, read the bible and talk to others about God is one such challenge

Codes and Signals for Radio Communications!

Codes and Signals for Radio Communications Preparedness
David Vine “All Hazards Preparedness” audio below

Codes and Signals for Radio Communications PreparednessCodes and signals are the stuff of spies and other high drama, right? If you watch old movies, especially films or videos that involve submarines in distress or spies lurking about in the woods, you may have seen simple Morse Code in action. Think sunken sub with crew frantically signaling a rescue diver by banging on the hull with a very large wrench.

In a pinch, touching two wires together for one second (dot) or two seconds (dash) can transmit a plain text message using electrical or electronic machines. Read more “Codes and Signals for Radio Communications!” Facebooktwittergoogle_pluslinkedinrssFacebooktwittergoogle_pluslinkedinrss

Tactical Dog Training!

Tactical Dog Training

Tactical Dog TrainingMost of us grew up training our dogs the basics – sit, stay, lay down. These basics help to establish the acceptable behaviors that we allow in our homes and around guests, and general respect between dog and handler. But as we grow familiar and busy, the puppy stage wears off, and the commands tend to stop with these basics. Lessons Learned from Hurricane Michael

Lessons Learned from Hurricane Michael
Micheal Kline “Reality Check” audio in player below.

Lessons Learned from Hurricane MichaelThis week on Reality Check we are talking about some of the lessons learned from Hurricane Michael. As many of you know, on October 10th, Hurricane Michael made landfall in the Florida Panhandle as a very strong Category 4 with winds of 155 MPH. Another way to think about this storm is that it was an EF3 tornado 80 miles wide and lasting for over 6 hours that hit the area. All of my friends and family were within 10 miles of the eyewall and many had the eyewall pass over them. All of my friends and family were affected and many had damage to their homes. What do we need in this nation? We thought we needed a benevolent, hip leader like Barack Obama, but we found ourselves more divided after his reign. Then we thought we should switch to the opposite and get a strong, loud and angry leader like Donald Trump. We are still shooting and shouting at one another.
