What is a Prepper?

Definition of a Prepper

: a person who advocates and practices preparedness

: one who prepares for any event that would disrupt their daily routine.

A short description of a Prepper…

A prepper is one who practices self-reliance and independence by preparing in advance for any and all foreseeable and unforeseeable changes in normal life. These changes can be as simple as a cut finger or as great as a man-made or natural disaster.

Almost anyone who considers themselves a prepper know responsibilities and duties. Here are a few I think we all share.

Plan for, protect, defend, and care for one’s family.

To help, whenever possible, those that are willing and wanting but unable to help themselves.

To reach out to those that want to learn and practice, independence and self-reliance.

To oppress tyranny, fight for, and preserve the rights as given him in the first ten amendments of the United States Constitution.

I am one of those people that got left behind when you moved. I have looked around your new website and I don’t see what your new rss feed is. I don’t have a cell phone, and I don’t do social media. I would just like to have the podcast download automatically so that I can then listen to it on my mp3 player. I am not computer savvy, and I don’t understand apps. I just need it to be simple. Do you have a new rss feed and what is that address? Thank you.

Hey James, I just listened to your show for the first time when you interviewed Christian (Ice Age Farmer) and enjoyed your conversation very much. You made a comment about trying to draw members of the left into the prepping fold. Well, I’m left leaning of center and have prepped for what seems like my whole life, and that’s a very important topic to me. I currently live in Asheville, NC and there is a very large contingent of left leaning homesteaders here. If you ever want to further explore drawing more lefties into the ranks, I think we could do it by changing the dialogue just a bit. When talking to my non-prepper friends, I’ve noticed that certain words and phrases tend to trigger them and stop the productive conversation. For instance, talking about specific types of guns and gun laws tends to not go well but if I just ask if they like to shoot or would like to shoot it tends to go better. Maybe the issue isn’t so much about hopelessness/helplessness as it’s about word choice.
Once again, I enjoyed your podcast very much and look forward to listening again in the future. Thank you for spreading the word about community preparedness!

Thanks so much for the compliments. We dont aim to alienate anyone or any group. Our goal is to change the landscape of disaster preparedness in the nation and help disaster relief operations get some air time. On thing that I take very seriously is not putting shackles on myself or my hosts. We have worked hard to create a platform where we can speak freely.

I welcome any and all preppers or preparedness minded homesteaders. All of our hosts would welcome them, too. We may say some things, occasionally, that makes them uncomfortable but I would never expect anyone to agree with me 100%. Thanks again for listening. I hope you spend some more time at PBN. Dont be a stranger.
