Dandelion The Dandy of All

Dandelion The Dandy of All Host: Lynna “The Other side… A Preppers Path

Dandelion OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAPerhaps no other plant gets a worse rap than the dandelion, cursed vehemently by landscaper and homeowner alike, the dandy of all weeds. Perhaps it’s time to take a closer look at this golden beauty and her secrets, just what have you been missing.

Spring has sprung, or at least begun too! The field and lawns are turning that lush green and on a sunny day you can fairly see the blades stretch to the sun.  And then what should appear, a bright yellow shaggy dot, no not one dot but hundreds no maybe make that thousands. Ugh the dreaded dandy of all, the infamous, dandelion.  What’s so terrible, truly a field of dandelion is a cheery vision to behold, brilliant yellow dotting the carpet of green a pretty sight to behold yes?
Oh right, so long as it’s not your lawn. Continue reading Dandelion The Dandy of All

Radiation, and Healing from Exposure “Herbs”

Herbs, Radiation, and Healing from Exposure
Host: Cat Ellis “Herbal Prepper Live

4-27 Fukushima-fishRadiation 473-fukushima-radiation-spread-to-united-statesOne of the scariest scenarios for many people is surviving after a nuclear event. For a time, it seemed that the world was backing away from nuclear weapons. Recently, however, the specter of nuclear attack has returned with US and Russia sizing each other up over the Ukraine.

Of course, while there are the predictable and perennial saber rattlings from Iran and North Korea, and Fukushima is still an ongoing concern, it is the new standoff between the two major nuclear powers, the US and Russia, that is raising the most eyebrows. 20’s Country, Folk, & Jazz Music Special

20’s Country, Folk, & Jazz Music Special
Host: Prepper Broadcasting

Country When theLevy Breaks 300x300If you like old style Country, Folk, Bluegrass  music the way it was, how it was played many years ago then we have a treat for you. Tonight on Prepper Broadcasting we are going back in time, a time before you were born, maybe even before your mom and dad were born. We are going back to the 1920’s to listen to some great hits from long ago.

Many of these songs have survived the ages being re-recorded by others over the generations. Tonight we are going to play many of these songs as they were recorded by the original artists.

Country jimmy_davis_image-150x150Have you ever heard of Kansas Joe McCoy and Memphis Minnie? A peculiar detail about Chicago Blues legend Joe McCoy is that he had a lot of stage names. Best known as Kansas Joe McCoy, he also performed and recorded as Georgia Pine Boy, Hallelujah Joe, Hillbilly Plowboy and Mud Dauber, to name just a few. Joe was married for a time to blues guitar great Memphis Minnie (who’s real name was Lizzie Douglas) and they made this classic record When The Levee Breaks together in 1929. This song was much later recorded by Led Zeppelin. Listen to the timeless original, hot off the 78RPM vinyl tonight. Continue reading 20’s Country, Folk, & Jazz Music Special

When Does Government Become an Invader?

When Does a Government Become an Invader?
Host: James Walton “I Am Liberty

Government Brain WashingWe get stories in snippets. Information comes to us in partitions. So when I sat back and started to put the pieces together that pertained to the actions of our government. As I write this I am also working on an article that will paint a better picture of our government’s scope and reach. I want this article to breakdown just what it is we are dealing with. It’s important that we ask ourselves: When does a government become an invader? Continue reading When Does Government Become an Invader?

Realistic Homesteading Expectations and Aspirations!

Are Your Homesteading Expectations and Aspirations Realistic?
Host: Renee “The Homestead Honey Hour

RealisticAsk anyone who has kept a homesteading blog or Youtube channel over the last five years – myself included — and they will tell you there’s a resurgence happening of folks wanting to get “back to the land”, much as there was in the 1970’s. Becoming more self-reliant and sustainable is an aspiration shared by many. Their reasons are many: Concerns over the economy, food security and availability, wanting to raise children in a healthier environment, seeking to be closer to nature, wanting to eat meat raised humanely and grow organic produce, a desire for a slower-paced life, wanting to live off grid without restrictions, zoning, or other legalities, concerns over GMO’s, chemicals, antibiotics, and/or hormones in the food supply, seeking privacy and seclusion, and a Continue reading Realistic Homesteading Expectations and Aspirations!

Raising Your Own Chickens (part 2)

Raising Your Own Chickens (part 2)
Host: Bobby Preparing to Provide!

Raising Your OwnDuring the last show of “Preparing to Provide“, we had a great discussion with Paul Wheaton and several callers. A lot was discussed, with quite a bit of focus on long term objectives. Things like rotating paddocks and free ranging would seem to be the end goal for a truly self-sufficient method of raising chickens. However, not everyone has the necessary space for these methods. And for a beginner, sometimes you have to crawl before you walk. A lot of questions remain. Things like… Where to buy chicks? Is it better to start with pullets? How many chickens can you have per coop? What feed is best at what stage? How to deal with extreme heat and cold? With that in mind, we’re going to go back and fill in a lot of the blanks. Continue reading Raising Your Own Chickens (part 2)
